Winter Blahs!!

This cold spell left me weary and dreary. I enjoyed yesterday very much though my sweet niece and children came we got the wheel barrow and i helped some, pick up sticks off the yard. I still have big chunks of ice in the back yard where I had to throw it out of chicken water pans and refill two times a day and sometimes more.

Nibbles the goat is still getting larger and larger with her babies. I thought she would have them in the coldest weather but she didn't --so we will let you know when they get here.

This week I kept one of the great grand babies two days --she is not hardly two but she loves going outside to see the chickens and goats. My two little silkies are bantams but have big bird syndrome they think they can take on other larger things such as a little girl. They had never jumped on anyone but me before so I told her to stand there with the silkies and i would take her picture and she did---just as i clicked the picture he flogged her little legs and she turned screaming and he was flogging her little back as i got to him and rescued her he jumped me too. She was fine just a little scared. She was telling me,"chichn chichn", and was all excited trying to tell me about the what he did.
Now i will have to watch the cute little silkies. In the picture you can see he has his neck feathers spread out and head down and her hear was looking down too but just in curiosity.

Omar keeps me so busy now because he is getting worse in areas that he had been alright but not now. He talks to me so much about all of his dead family members it just goes on and on. I tell him not to think about them that they are OK. He wants to know why didn't some one tell him about them he would have gone to the funeral.
There is no fixing it i just try to talk about other things and get him to talking about some imaginary tale he tells me now. He asked me were we going tonight? I asked him where are we going---HE said to the races. When we were young we used to go to the races on Saturday night sometime. I told him I thought it was too rainy and cold to go tonight and he agreed with me--so we didn't go to the races tonight. I just get up and hug him and reassure him it's alright. It makes me sad but we will make it with God's help and I know He is there for us.

March 1950

OK ---I keep getting out of sink but this picture goes with the other March 1950.

Children

Well to see the children go to my face book and it is there to play.
I do not know why i am having trouble with things. Just an agrivation.

Children!!!

It seems I have been having a time posting anything. For two days i have written something to post and i couldn't get everything to work my way so i will try again.

We had a little Christmas program at our church and I made a Smile Box with some cute kids and our pastor. Our pastor is in need of our prayers --Pastor Doug.
We know God is hearing our prayers so we are looking forward to his quick recovery.

March 1950

I have been looking at some of my Mother's old pictures today and found one of two young kids. This was made the year before we married. I was still 15 here and Farmer man was 18. I don't know why i seemed to always have a silly smile.
He was such a cute boyfriend no wonder I still have him.
Today I showed him the picture and he liked it too.

It has been so cold i have been breaking ice for all the animals and chickens.
Chickens drink a lot of water-- hot weather or cold weather. I guess it is because they eat dry corn and it has to have moisture to help it get into the gizzard with all the rocks and other things for digestion. I am sure everyone wanted to know about chicken gizzards.

I hope this weather soon warms up one of my nanny goats is ready to have her babies--I say babies cause she usually has two. I will get pictures when they are born. The other three nannies are getting close too but maybe it will be in February.

Love,
Marie[aunt maria]

Happy New Year!!

It is Happy Birthday to Omar{Farmer Man} today too. We had a get together for him and had traditional New Year's Day food. Black eyed peas, turnip greens and hog jaw.
I made corn bread muffins to go with it, sweet tea and we had cherry cobbler Dianna made. We also had another cherry cream cheese pie which he likes but he asked ,where was the pecan pie? We had way too many desserts. Carol made a wonderful pumpkin pie and Dianna made another pie---chocolate pecan, like a fudge pie with chocolate chips and pecans. I guess someday I need to make a family recipe book--Well maybe this year of 2010.

Can't believe ten years have gone so fast. Remember all the talk about everything collapsing when it was turning the year 2000. People even stored food and did some strange things---well we are still here. But this year might be when Christ returns.
We just have to be ready for whatever happens.

Omar has been pretty confused through all the Holidays but i just assure him I am here to help him find his way around. He goes most everywhere I go now even to church. I hope for a good year in the year 2010 and asking God to just lead me in the way he would have me to go.

I made a Smile Box but couldn't post it for some reason.

Love and have a wonderful New Year,
Marie{aunt maria}
